Indio, a dark beer brewed in Mexico since 1893, is the latest innovation to enter the Heineken USA beer porfolio just in time for summer.
You don’t need find a beach in order to enjoy a fabulous Mexican beer. But I think it goes without saying that there really is no better time of year to enjoy a beer than during these idyllic summer months. With summer officially underway today, and my super awesome Pandora station rocking the summer beats with Fitz and the Tantrums, I thought there’s no better time to mention a few perfect brews from the Heineken USA portfolio to starting sipping on, well, right away!
- Sol – Just like the name implies – this beer just reminds me of the sun and summer time. It’s light, crisp and refreshing and I personally enjoy just drinking this one straight from the bottle for easy maneuvering/holding through that upcoming outdoor summer BBQ.
- Tecate – I really like Rick Lyke’s concise review of this light Mexican beer enjoyed from the can: ” A fairly easy drinking selection for a hot day by the pool.”
- Dos Equis – The lager is a classic; it’s a crisp golden lager that has a fresh, malt aroma and clean finish. I suggest pairing Dos Equis with foods fit for a light summer outing like citrus marinated chicken or crab cakes. My personal favorite is the Dos Equis Ambar and was happy to see my friend, Will Gordon agree. This full-flavored amber beer that you’ll find has some subtle caramel notes goes great with fajitas or a grilled steak – seriously, did someone say BBQ?
- Indio – This beer is new to the US market starting this summer. So super new I haven’t even had a chance yet to taste it! What I can tell you about this new dark beer (as you can also read in a recently published press release that appeared on Beer Pulse and Beer Street Journal, to name a few) is that the beer was originally developed back in 1893 and has been recognized for its “its malt character and light caramel aroma.” If you’re located in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Austin, Dallas, Houston or San Antonio – you’re in luck! You should be able to get your hands on this latest innovation from Heineken USA.
While we’re on the topic of beer, I also wanted to quickly mention that I’ll be attending the upcoming Beer Bloggers Conference in Indianapolis July 13-15, on behalf of Heineken USA. I’m thrilled to be coming back for the “three-peat”, see some old friends and make plenty of new ones as well.
Cheers!
SJ
